Mercedes-Benz India has expanded its high-performance portfolio with the launch of the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+, marking the debut of the brand’s first electrified AMG E-Class in the country. The luxury performance sedan is priced at ₹1.45 crore for the Performance Edition and ₹1.48 crore for the Racing Edition (ex-showroom).
The launch strengthens Mercedes-Benz’s electrification strategy while building on the legacy of the E-Class, one of India’s longest-running luxury car nameplates with over three decades of presence in the market.
Blends AMG performance with hybrid efficiency
The AMG E 53 Hybrid combines a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a 120 kW electric motor, producing a combined output of 430 kW (585 hp) and 750 Nm of torque. With the RACE START function activated, output rises to 450 kW (612 hp).
The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.8 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph.
Mercedes-Benz said the plug-in hybrid powertrain offers customers the best of both worlds by combining racetrack-level performance with the efficiency and practicality of electric driving.
Up to 100 km electric-only range
The performance sedan is equipped with a 28.6 kWh battery pack (21.2 kWh usable), enabling an electric-only driving range of up to 100 km (WLTP) and electric driving speeds of up to 140 kmph.
An 11 kW onboard AC charger comes as standard, while regenerative braking helps recharge the battery during driving.
The car also features dedicated Electric and Battery Hold driving modes in addition to AMG’s traditional Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery and Individual modes.
AMG engineering and luxury features
The AMG E 53 Hybrid comes with AMG Ride Control suspension, Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, active rear-axle steering, and an electronically controlled braking system that seamlessly blends regenerative and hydraulic braking.
The AMG Dynamic Plus package adds features such as an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential, AMG dynamic engine mounts, high-performance composite brakes and the Race Start function.
On the design front, the sedan features an illuminated AMG grille, wider front fenders, quad exhaust pipes, 20-inch AMG alloy wheels and the AMG Night Package II.
Inside, the cabin gets AMG sports seats, the latest MBUX infotainment system with AMG-specific displays, Burmester 4D surround sound system, Dolby Atmos support and multiple premium comfort features.
Bookings open
Bookings for both variants are now open across Mercedes-Benz dealerships in India, with customer deliveries commencing immediately.
Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director & CEO Santosh Iyer said the launch reinforces the company’s strategy of offering customers multiple powertrain options.
“The E-Class has been one of the longest-running nameplates in the Indian automotive industry and the AMG E 53 Hybrid 4MATIC+ underlines performance, practical usability and electric efficiency, making the E-Class portfolio truly unmatched. This performance sedan balances genuine AMG racetrack performance with the practicality of daily driving, while further strengthening our powertrain-agnostic strategy for India,” he said.
