Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd (NMIPL) has introduced a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit for the Nissan Gravite, bringing a segment-first twin-cylinder solution designed to retain full 7-seater flexibility while lowering running costs.
Pricing, availability and positioning
Offered at an introductory price of ₹82,999, the Gravite CNG kit will be available across 16 states. The move targets cost-conscious buyers in CNG-heavy markets, combining fuel efficiency with family-focused practicality and usable third-row space.
Twin-cylinder innovation retains cabin utility
The standout feature is the smart twin-cylinder layout, which preserves boot space and seating configuration, often a trade-off in conventional CNG conversions. The solution is aimed at customers seeking a balance between affordability, comfort, and everyday usability in a multi-purpose vehicle.
Dealer-fitted, warranty-backed solution
The government-approved kit has been developed and manufactured by Motozen and will be installed through Nissan’s authorised dealer network. The company is offering a 3-year/1,00,000 km warranty on kit components via a third-party provider, ensuring reliability and peace of mind.
Management commentary
Nissan and Infiniti Divisional Vice President and President, Middle East, KSA, CIS and India, Thierry Sabbagh, said India remains a strategic market for Nissan, with a focus on accessible and future-ready mobility solutions. He noted that the Gravite CNG strengthens Nissan’s offering for customers prioritising space, efficiency, and affordability.
Nissan Motor India Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa highlighted that the twin-cylinder setup ensures no compromise on the vehicle’s modularity and 7-seater capability, while significantly reducing running costs, building on the strong response to the company’s earlier CNG offerings.
Tech and safety highlights
The system features a Sequential BS6.2-compliant CNG kit, ICAT-certified safety standards, and heavy-duty cylinders with 8.1 mm thickness for durability. It also integrates Dynamic Advancer Technology, optimised specifically for the Gravite, along with a seamless petrol-CNG switchover system.
Additional features include a fuel filling point under the fuel lid, factory-finish integration, and an optimised rear-seat layout to maintain passenger comfort.
Value proposition
For high-mileage users, particularly families managing daily commutes and intercity travel, the Gravite CNG promises meaningful savings over petrol variants. At the same time, it supports cleaner mobility, aligning with growing demand for economical and environmentally conscious transport solutions.
Bottom line
With the Gravite CNG, Nissan is sharpening its value proposition in the competitive MPV space, offering a practical, cost-efficient alternative without sacrificing space or comfort, a key differentiator in India’s evolving mobility landscape.
