Perma-Pipe, Welspun Corp To Invest $125 Mn In Jordan Pipe Facilities

CW Bureau ·

Welspun Corp Ltd and Perma-Pipe International Holdings Inc. have approved a joint investment of up to approximately $125 million to establish spiral pipe manufacturing and advanced coating facilities in Jordan.

The project follows a memorandum of understanding signed with the developers of Jordan’s National Water Carrier Project and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The two partners will fund the investment in roughly equal proportions, with detailed governance and operational arrangements to be finalised through definitive agreements.

Facilities to manufacture large-diameter pipes

The proposed facilities will manufacture and coat pipes ranging from 24 inches to 120 inches in diameter. They are intended to serve water, oil and gas, energy and infrastructure projects in Jordan and neighbouring markets.

The partnership will combine Welspun Corp’s large-diameter steel pipe manufacturing capabilities with Perma-Pipe’s expertise in anti-corrosion coating systems, engineered piping solutions and project execution.

Regional infrastructure opportunities

The companies aim to establish a strategically located manufacturing hub to support large-scale infrastructure programmes, strengthen regional supply chains and create local value through manufacturing and technical skills development.

Over time, the facilities could also serve infrastructure development and reconstruction requirements in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Gaza. Potential opportunities may arise from the development or rerouting of regional oil and gas infrastructure towards Jordan’s Port of Aqaba.

Partnership targets water and energy projects

The proposed investment is expected to strengthen the partners’ ability to serve regional demand for large-diameter pipes and specialised coatings.

The facilities are intended to support the development of critical infrastructure while expanding local manufacturing capabilities in Jordan.
