Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Ltd, formerly TajGVK Hotels & Resorts Ltd, has formally adopted its new name following a change in ownership, with the GVK-Bhupal promoter family taking full control of the company.
In December 2025, The Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) sold its entire 25.52% stake in the company to the GVK-Bhupal family. IHCL’s nominee directors also stepped down from the board on December 30, 2025.
Promoter family takes full ownership
Established in 1995 as a joint venture between the GVK-Bhupal family and IHCL, the company is now owned and led entirely by the promoter family.
The new name reflects the change in ownership and the company’s focus on the luxury hospitality segment. However, its hotels will continue to operate under the Taj brand, with IHCL managing the properties through long-term hotel management agreements.
The company said there would be no change in the brand, service or standards experienced by guests, employees and partners.
Six hotels across four cities
Krishna GVK currently owns six operating hotels across Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh and Mumbai.
Its portfolio includes Taj Krishna, Taj Deccan and Vivanta Begumpet in Hyderabad; Taj Club House in Chennai; Taj Chandigarh; and Taj Santacruz in Mumbai. The Mumbai property is held through its subsidiary, Greenwoods Palaces & Resorts Pvt Ltd.
Bengaluru to mark next growth phase
The company’s next phase of expansion will begin with Taj Yelahanka in Bengaluru. The 256-key luxury hotel is scheduled to open towards the end of November and will be the first property to open under the Krishna GVK name.
With its addition, the company’s portfolio will increase to seven hotels. As with the existing properties, Krishna GVK will own the hotel while IHCL will operate it under the Taj brand.
Company eyes further expansion
“Krishna GVK is built to grow, with a clear focus on expanding our portfolio into India’s high-potential hotel markets. Taj Yelahanka, a 256-key luxury hotel, will be the first to open under our new name towards the end of November, taking us into Bengaluru, one of India’s most dynamic hotel markets,” Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels, Joint Managing Director, Krishna Bhupal, said.
“Even after completing this landmark property, our net debt remains minimal, and our strong balance sheet puts us in a great position to pursue growth through both organic and inorganic routes,” he said.
The company said its partnership with IHCL, built over more than 25 years, would continue through the management arrangements for its hotels.
