Air India’s 10% Students Discount On Domestic Base Fares Untill Oct 20

CW Bureau ·

Air India has announced a limited-period offer giving students a flat 10% discount on eligible domestic base fares for bookings made until October 20, 2026, as the airline seeks to make student travel more affordable.

The offer applies to eligible one-way and round-trip bookings and builds on the airline’s year-round student programme, which provides fare discounts, additional baggage allowance and greater flexibility when travel plans change.

The promotional discount is available on bookings made through the airline’s website or its mobile app, subject to applicable fare conditions.

Limited-period discount targets student travel
The offer is intended to benefit students travelling for college admissions, internships, campus placements and academic breaks. The flat 10% reduction applies to the base fare on eligible domestic bookings, rather than the total ticket price, which may include taxes and other charges.

Students must make their bookings by October 20 to qualify for the promotional discount. The airline has not indicated that the limited-period offer will continue beyond that date.

How students can claim the offer
Eligible travellers can access student fares by entering their origin, destination and travel dates in Air India’s booking system and selecting the ‘Student’ option under the concession type menu.

After selecting an eligible fare, passengers should review the applicable conditions before completing their booking.

Students booking directly through the airline’s digital channels may also qualify for additional savings. Logged-in customers receive a 50% reduction in convenience fees, while eligible domestic bookings paid through UPI can qualify for an additional discount of up to ₹1,000 per passenger using the promo code UPIPROMO. These benefits are subject to their respective terms and conditions.

Eligibility requirements apply
For domestic travel, students must be at least 12 years old on the date of travel and enrolled in a full-time course lasting at least one academic year.

The educational institution must meet Air India’s eligibility requirements, including recognition, affiliation or accreditation by the relevant government authority, educational board or university.

Passengers must carry valid supporting documents for verification at check-in. These may include a student identity card, an admission or acceptance letter from the institution, or a valid student visa, where applicable.

Failure to provide the required documentation could result in a misuse recovery amount and applicable taxes being charged, according to the offer conditions.

Year-round benefits extend beyond October 20
The limited-period fare discount is separate from Air India’s year-round student programme. Eligible students can continue to access discounts of up to 10% on qualifying domestic and international fares, an additional 10 kg of baggage allowance and one complimentary date change.

The additional baggage allowance could help students carrying books, clothing and other essentials between their homes and educational institutions. The complimentary date change also offers flexibility for students whose academic schedules or travel plans change, subject to the programme’s conditions.

The year-round benefits remain available beyond October 20, although eligibility and fare conditions continue to apply.

Airline seeks to strengthen student travel proposition
Air India’s student programme covers eligible domestic and international journeys, connecting students to education and travel hubs across India and overseas markets, including North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

The latest promotion gives students a defined window to secure a discount on domestic travel while retaining access to the airline’s ongoing student benefits.

For passengers, the actual savings will depend on the eligible base fare, applicable taxes, convenience fees and the conditions attached to the booking.
