Hero MotoCorp Q2 PAT Jumps 41% To ₹1,861 Cr As Revenue Rises 23%

CW Bureau ·

Hero MotoCorp’s consolidated revenue increased 23% year-on-year to ₹14,971 crore in Q2 FY27, while profit after tax (PAT) surged 41% to ₹1,861 crore, supported by strong scooter demand, growth in electric mobility and an expanding premium motorcycle business.

The company had reported revenue of ₹12,218 crore in Q2 FY26. Its latest quarterly and half-year results include a ₹397 crore gain from the equity consolidation of an associate company following a capital raise through a qualified institutional placement and private placement.

The performance highlights the growing contribution of scooters and electric vehicles (EVs) to the business of the world’s largest motorcycle and scooter manufacturer, even as its traditional 100cc motorcycle segment continues to support volumes.

Scooters and EVs drive growth
Hero MotoCorp’s scooter portfolio grew 47% year-on-year to 2.40 lakh units during the quarter, emerging as a key growth driver.

Its internal combustion engine (ICE) scooter business continued to gain market share, with the Destini and Xoom series recording 50% year-on-year growth and dispatches of 1.37 lakh units during Q2 FY27.

The company’s electric mobility brand VIDA also maintained its growth momentum, recording 76% year-on-year growth in retail sales to 66,531 units during the quarter.

The performance across conventional and electric scooters points to a broader diversification of Hero MotoCorp’s product portfolio as it seeks to capture demand across different price points and mobility preferences.

Premium motorcycle business gains traction
The company is strengthening its presence in the premium motorcycle segment, appointing Anuj Dua as Chief Business Officer – Premium Segment as part of its strategy to expand beyond its traditional commuter motorcycle base.

Its Harley-Davidson business recorded 30% sequential growth, while sales increased 19% year-on-year in the first half of FY27.

Hero MotoCorp also expanded the Harley-Davidson retail ecosystem to offer globally sourced completely built-up (CBU) models alongside locally manufactured X440 and X440 T motorcycles. In September 2026, the company crossed the milestone of 50,000 Harley-Davidson X440 and X440 T motorcycles on Indian roads.

Hero MotoCorp Chief Executive Officer Harshavardhan Chitale said the quarter’s performance reflected the strength of the company’s product portfolio, with scooters contributing significantly to growth alongside its ICE and VIDA electric offerings.

He said the 100cc motorcycle segment continued to contribute to overall growth and that the company would focus on sustaining momentum, driving profitable growth and building a more diversified business.

International expansion broadens market reach
Hero MotoCorp entered Germany during Q2 FY27, taking its global presence to 54 markets. It also launched the XPulse 200 4V and XPulse 200 4V Pro in Bangladesh, expanding its adventure motorcycle portfolio in the neighbouring market.

The company is also investing in the future of electric mobility through strategic investments in electric two- and three-wheeler manufacturers Ather Energy and Euler Motors.

Beyond its core mobility business, Hero MotoCorp continues to promote sports, including golf, football, field hockey and cricket. Its Hero MotoSports Team Rally represents India in international rally racing.

The company is also listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, making it the only Indian two-wheeler manufacturer on the index, according to the company. Executive Chairman Dr Pawan Munjal was named to the 2025 TIME100 Climate List, recognising leaders driving business-led climate action.

With revenue and profit posting strong year-on-year growth, Hero MotoCorp is seeking to sustain its performance through scooter market-share gains, electric mobility, premium motorcycles and international expansion. However, the ₹397 crore gain from the associate-company transaction is an important factor to consider when assessing the underlying profitability of the quarter.
