Hinduja Group has reaffirmed its commitment to continued investment and business expansion in Tamil Nadu, while expressing interest in increasing investments in the state’s renewable energy sector, particularly wind power.
The commitment came during a meeting between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and senior Hinduja Group officials in London on Monday. The delegation included Ashok Leyland Executive Chairman Dheeraj Hinduja, Finolex Industries Chairman Prakash P Chhabria and Director Rita Hinduja Chhabria.
₹2,500 crore MoU under follow-up
Dheeraj Hinduja briefed the Chief Minister on the progress of initiatives being taken based on the ₹2,500 crore memorandum of understanding signed during the VETTRI Tamil Nadu Investors’ Meet held in August 2026.
The discussions also covered the progress of Hinduja Group investments in Tamil Nadu. The group reiterated its commitment to making further investments and expanding its business presence in the state.
Greater focus on renewable energy
The Hinduja Group officials expressed interest in stepping up investments in Tamil Nadu’s renewable energy sector, with a particular focus on wind power.
The move could add another dimension to the group’s investment footprint in the state, alongside its existing business interests. The government release, however, did not provide details on the proposed scale, project locations or timelines for the additional renewable energy investments.
Push to expand commercial vehicle exports
The meeting also discussed measures to increase exports of commercial vehicles manufactured in Tamil Nadu.
The discussions focused on strengthening Tamil Nadu’s role as an export hub for the automobile manufacturing industry, potentially supporting the state’s position as a key base for global vehicle production and exports.
The meeting was attended by India’s Ambassador to the UK K Sivasubramanian, Nidhi Mani Tripathi, Minister, High Commission of India, London, and senior Tamil Nadu government officials.
