Japanese consumer electronics brand AKAI India has launched a new range of semi-automatic washing machines under the positioning ‘The Spa for Your Clothes’, targeting Indian households with a focus on durability, lower running costs and fabric care.
Range spans 7 kg to 14 kg
The new line-up covers capacities ranging from 7 kg to 14 kg, catering to households ranging from young couples to larger families. AKAI said the range is designed around reducing the consumption of water and electricity while extending the life of the washing machine.
The company has introduced five pulsator technologies across different models, including the x5 Wing Pulsator, Dual Force Pulsator, Active Flow 360°, Jumbo Pulsator, Spiral Pulsator and Roller Pulsator.
The x5 Wing Pulsator is available across the 7 kg to 14 kg range, offering Normal and Gentle wash cycles, while higher-capacity models also get a Strong mode.
Multiple wash technologies
Select models feature the Dual Force Pulsator for heavier daily loads, while the Active Flow 360° technology powers AKAI’s ‘Magic Wash’ programme, which combines a 35-minute wash cycle with a built-in soak function.
The 8.5 kg glass-lid models feature a Jumbo Pulsator with Normal, Gentle and Strong programmes and an electronic timer of up to 40 minutes. The 8.5 kg and 10.5 kg variants also get Spiral Pulsator and Roller Pulsator technologies respectively.
At the top end, the 11 kg model comes with a stainless-steel wash-and-spin tub, which AKAI said is a first for its semi-automatic washing machine range.
Focus on durability
AKAI has equipped the range with anti-rat mesh to protect wiring, rust-proof bodies and thermal protection for the wash motor. The machines carry a five-year warranty on the wash motor and a 5-star energy rating across the range.
Models from 7.5 kg upwards with glass lids also feature soft-closing lids, while other features include castor wheels, collar scrubbers, magic filters for lint and dirt, and single or dual water inlets depending on the model.
Japanese philosophy behind product design
AKAI India MD & CEO Anurag Sharma said the company has designed the machines around the Japanese concept of Mottainai, which emphasises respecting resources and minimising waste.
He said the machines combine water and electricity savings through the 35-minute Magic Wash cycle with long-term durability features such as thermal motor protection and rust-proof bodies.
1,200-plus service centres
AKAI said it has a nationwide service network of more than 1,200 service centres across 28 states to support customers after purchase.
The new semi-automatic washing machines are available across India from ₹12,590 onwards through AKAI India’s official website, select third-party online stores and authorised offline retailers.
