With BaaS Model For Creta Electric, Hyundai Cuts Price To ₹10.99 Lakh

CW Bureau ·

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership model for the Hyundai Creta Electric, enabling customers to purchase the electric SUV at a starting price of ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) while paying for the battery separately through flexible rental plans.

Under the new ownership model, battery rentals will start at ₹3.9 per kilometre, significantly lowering the upfront acquisition cost of the electric SUV and making EV ownership more accessible.

The company said the initiative is aimed at addressing one of the biggest barriers to electric vehicle adoption in India, the high initial purchase price.

Flexible ownership model to drive EV adoption
Hyundai Motor India Ltd Managing Director & CEO Tarun Garg said the Battery-as-a-Service model is a transformational step towards democratizing electric mobility in India.

He said the flexible battery rental plans reduce the initial acquisition cost, allowing more customers to transition to electric vehicles while benefiting from Hyundai’s technology, safety and innovation.

New features added to Creta Electric
Alongside the new ownership model, Hyundai has enhanced the Creta Electric with additional features based on customer feedback.

The electric SUV now comes with an integrated side foot step, improving ease of entry and exit while enhancing its premium SUV appearance.

The company has also announced that the 7.4 kW wall box home charger will now be offered in the HC variants, providing customers with a more convenient home charging solution.

Offers up to 510 km driving range
Built on the success of the Creta SUV brand, the Hyundai Creta Electric is available with two battery options: 51.4 kWh Long Range battery and 42 kWh Standard Range battery.

The vehicle offers an ARAI-certified driving range of up to 510 km. It also supports DC fast charging, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes.

Premium technology and safety
The Creta Electric comes equipped with a range of advanced features, including: Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS safety suite, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology for powering external devices and Single Pedal Drive (i-Pedal) for one-pedal driving.

Strong real-world performance
Hyundai said the Creta Electric has demonstrated its capabilities through multiple real-world evaluations. Under the ‘Hyundai Test Driven by 100’ campaign, 100 content creators drove the vehicle across 10 states, 26 cities and more than 200 destinations, covering over 15,000 km across diverse terrains and weather conditions over a period exceeding 100 days.

The campaign generated significant digital engagement, recording 526 million views and 35 million likes.

The Creta Electric also entered the India Book of Records by covering 1,326.5 km in 24 hours, setting a national record for the maximum distance travelled by an electric car in a day. During the same run, it completed 1,000 km in just 18 hours and 31 minutes, establishing another benchmark.

Expanding EV charging ecosystem
Hyundai said it continues to invest in building India’s EV ecosystem by expanding its public charging infrastructure. As part of its long-term plan to install nearly 600 fast public EV charging stations over the next seven years, the company has already established charging infrastructure at 183 locations, comprising 214 DC chargers and 399 charging points.

In addition, the myHyundai app enables users to locate and access more than 10,000 EV charging points across India through its integrated EV Charge feature, helping provide a seamless EV ownership experience.
