Chartered Speed has expanded its electric bus operations to all eight primary urban centres in Rajasthan under the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme, becoming the first mobility operator to establish statewide coverage across the state’s key urban nodes under the scheme.
The rollout covers Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur, Bhilwara and Alwar, strengthening Chartered Speed’s presence in Rajasthan’s urban public transport network.
The expansion comes as the company scales up operations under an earlier secured order for more than 800 buses in Rajasthan. As part of the current deployment, 24 electric buses have commenced operations in Jaipur and Bhilwara, while another 47 e-buses have been deployed across Bikaner, Udaipur, Kota, Alwar, Ajmer and Jodhpur.
EV share rises to 25%
Chartered Speed operates a nationwide fleet of more than 2,000 buses. With the latest Rajasthan deployment, electric buses now account for around 25% of its overall operating fleet, up from approximately 10%.
The company said the expansion strengthens its position as a major operator of contracted electric mass-transit assets in India.
The eight-city network covers some of Rajasthan’s most populous and economically important urban corridors, providing electric public transport connectivity to millions of residents.
More than 1,500 jobs
The Rajasthan expansion is also expected to generate more than 1,500 direct skilled jobs across areas including telemetry, fleet management, technical maintenance and driving operations.
The company said the deployment is designed to combine electric mobility with technology-enabled fleet management and charging infrastructure to support reliable operations.
Chartered Speed Whole-Time Director Sanyam Gandhi said, “Mass transit electrification is fundamentally about transforming urban mobility into a bankable, yield-generating asset class.”
“By integrating over 800 e-buses into high-density corridors alongside a captive 22 MW charging backbone, we prove that capital-efficient GCC models can de-risk infrastructure investments, optimize municipal transit, and drive long-term decarbonization at scale,” he added.
Building a nationwide electric mobility network
Established in 2010, Chartered Speed has more than 15 years of experience in passenger mobility and operates a fleet of over 2,000 buses, serving more than 3.5 lakh passengers daily across multiple mobility segments.
Its operations are supported by technology such as GPS tracking, CCTV surveillance and Wi-Fi connectivity, with a focus on safety, reliability and operational efficiency.
The company provides intercity and intra-city transportation solutions across six states and operates across public transportation, employee mobility, school transportation and electric mobility.
The expansion across all eight major urban centres in Rajasthan marks another step in its strategy to scale electric mass transit through contracted operations and infrastructure-led mobility models.
