InterContinental is extending its global partnership with Timeshifter, giving guests across its 242 hotels and resorts in nearly 70 countries complimentary access to personalised plans designed to help mitigate jet lag.
Under the expanded collaboration, every guest staying at an InterContinental hotel or resort will have access to a personalised Timeshifter plan, whether visiting for the first time or returning to a familiar property.
The initiative strengthens InterContinental’s focus on restorative travel by putting circadian science and technology directly in the hands of guests, helping them arrive refreshed and ready to explore their destination.
Technology for restorative travel
Timeshifter is used by athletes, astronauts and frequent international travellers to manage the effects of long-distance travel.
For InterContinental, the partnership forms part of its evolving guest experience and its Intentional Flexibility initiatives, which are designed to help modern luxury travellers move more seamlessly across time zones and adapt to changing schedules.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Vice President of Luxury & Lifestyle BrandsTom Rowntree said, “Our partnership with Timeshifter is about putting the right technology in the hands of our guests so they can seamlessly shift through their day-to-day. By harnessing the power of cutting-edge solutions like Timeshifter, we’re not only addressing the common challenges faced by travellers but also redefining the entire guest experience.”
Personalised jet lag management
The Timeshifter app uses circadian science to create personalised plans addressing the causes and symptoms associated with jet lag.
Recommendations are tailored to each guest’s itinerary, chronotype, normal sleep pattern and personal preferences. The plans provide guidance on sleep, light exposure and avoidance, and caffeine timing.
The same algorithm is used in high-performance settings by astronauts, Olympic athletes, F1 teams, NBA players and national soccer teams.
Timeshifter Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Mickey Beyer-Clausen, said, “We have known for decades that circadian clocks govern nearly every function in the human body, from sleep and alertness to metabolism and immune function. When we travel across multiple time zones, our circadian clocks can’t keep up.”
He added that the Timeshifter app helps travellers reset their central circadian clock and adapt to new time zones, enabling them to make better use of their time at their destination.
Focus on nutrition
The Timeshifter offering is complemented by a broader suite of restorative travel initiatives at InterContinental hotels and resorts, including nutritionally rich dishes designed to support guests during travel.
A range of Nourish Bowls and Anytime Plates is available through Flexible Dining menus at properties around the world. The dishes feature ingredients selected to support energy and vitality while also offering guests a taste of local culture.
The menu includes egg-based options rich in vitamin B12, ingredients selected for their hydration benefits and magnesium-rich green leafy vegetables.
Access for every booking
All InterContinental guests will receive complimentary access to a Timeshifter jet lag plan for every booking, covering both inbound and outbound journeys.
Guests can access the service through a QR code promoted at various stages of the guest journey, both before and during their stay.
InterContinental marks 80 years
InterContinental is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2026. Founded in 1946 by Pan American Airways founder Juan Trippe, the brand describes itself as the world’s first and largest luxury hotel brand.
As it marks the milestone, InterContinental is focusing on the evolving needs of modern luxury travellers, with an emphasis on knowledge, culturally rich experiences and personalised services.
The expanded Timeshifter partnership adds a technology-led element to that proposition, enabling guests to address travel fatigue and make the most of their stays across InterContinental’s global network.
