Department of Posts and Flipkart India have signed an agreement for last mile parcel delivery services, aiming to strengthen India’s e-commerce logistics ecosystem and improve delivery capabilities across the country.

Under the agreement, the Department of Posts will provide last mile delivery support for Flipkart shipments across India by leveraging its extensive postal network and logistics infrastructure.

Nationwide reach to boost delivery coverage
As part of the collaboration, Flipkart will gain access to India Post’s network of over 1.6 lakh post offices, enabling wider delivery coverage across urban, semi-urban and rural regions, including remote and underserved locations.

The partnership is expected to improve serviceability and delivery efficiency, especially in areas where logistics accessibility remains limited.

Focus on customer-centric delivery solutions
The agreement includes delivery of prepaid and cash-on-delivery (COD) parcels, OTP-based delivery authentication and real-time shipment tracking capabilities.

Both organisations said the collaboration will focus on faster deliveries, improved operational coordination and seamless technology integration to ensure efficient parcel movement and enhanced customer experience.

Partnership to support India’s growing e-commerce sector
The collaboration is expected to strengthen the logistics backbone supporting India’s rapidly expanding e-commerce market.

For the Department of Posts, the agreement is likely to enhance utilisation of its delivery network and logistics infrastructure, while supporting its broader transformation into a leading logistics organisation catering to the evolving needs of India’s digital economy.
