Ola Electric is opening its sales and service network to dealer partners across India, marking a significant shift in its go-to-market strategy five years after launching its first electric scooters.
The move signals a transition from a predominantly company-owned retail model to a dealer-led distribution strategy as India’s electric vehicle (EV) market enters a more mature phase with growing consumer acceptance.
Ola Electric said its company-owned stores played a crucial role in building early EV adoption, strengthening brand recognition and creating India’s largest electric two-wheeler customer base of more than one million riders.
Dealer-led expansion
Over the coming months, the company-owned outlets will increasingly focus on delivering brand and product experiences, while dealer partners will drive sales, service and market expansion across the country.
To support the transition, industry veteran BVR Subbu will rejoin Ola Electric as Senior Advisor. The former President of Hyundai Motor India had earlier served on Ola Electric’s board and has been a long-time mentor to Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal.
The announcement follows a month-long engagement with prospective dealer partners across India. According to the company, the response has been encouraging, with dealers expressing confidence that Ola Electric’s expanding product portfolio, coupled with their local market expertise, can accelerate both the company’s growth and EV adoption nationwide.
Brand experience at company stores
“This is a big shift in how we go to market, and one that reflects where the EV industry in India is headed,” said Ola Electric Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal.
“We built our own stores first because trust in EVs had to be earned store by store, city by city. That phase built the foundation. Now, as the category matures, our job is to bring EVs to every corner of the country, and dealer partners understand their local markets in ways no company-owned network can replicate at that scale.”
Aggarwal said company-owned stores will continue to serve as centres where customers can experience the brand and its products, while dealer partners will extend that experience to towns and neighbourhoods across India.
Attractive proposition for dealers
Ola Electric said it is offering dealer partners the advantage of a well-established brand, a recurring service opportunity from its installed base of more than one million electric two-wheelers, and a comprehensive product portfolio spanning electric scooters, motorcycles and energy solutions, including Ola Shakti.
The company added that its dealer business model has been designed to deliver attractive returns for partners while supporting long-term expansion.
Ola Electric expects the dealer programme to achieve meaningful on-ground scale by Diwali 2026.
