The House of Rare’s premium fashion and lifestyle brand Rare Rabbit has announced its entry into the travel gear category through a strategic partnership with Escape Plan, marking a structured push into India’s premium travel accessories market.
The partnership aims to position travel gear as a lifestyle-driven category that blends fashion, craftsmanship and functionality, moving beyond its traditional utility-focused positioning.
Fashion-led expansion
Rare Rabbit said the move reflects the evolving preferences of aspirational urban consumers whose lifestyle choices increasingly extend beyond apparel into travel and mobility products.
The brand plans to bring its signature design philosophy into luggage and travel accessories through clean silhouettes, refined finishes and functionality-focused detailing.
The House of Rare Founder & Creative Director Manish Poddar said, “Rare has always had a distinct point of view on design, craftsmanship and what premium should truly feel like. Our consumer has evolved with us, and their sense of style extends far beyond the wardrobe — it travels with them.”
He added that the partnership with Escape Plan would allow the company to expand its lifestyle universe while maintaining the same creative rigor and attention to detail associated with the Rare Rabbit brand.
Building a premium travel category
Escape Plan Co-Founder & CEO Abhinav Pathak said travel in India is becoming increasingly aspirational and lifestyle-oriented, creating opportunities for premium travel gear brands.
“Partnering with Rare Rabbit allows us to accelerate that vision with a brand that understands premium consumers deeply. Together, we are positioning Indian luxury travel as a category that can stand independently, both commercially and culturally,” he said.
Escape Plan operates as an omni-channel travel products platform across online marketplaces, direct-to-consumer channels and offline retail networks. The company is backed by investors including Jungle Ventures, Fireside Ventures and IndiGo Ventures.
Premium lifestyle opportunity
The companies said the partnership reflects a broader shift in India’s premium consumer ecosystem, where travel gear is increasingly viewed as an extension of personal style and identity.
Rather than treating luggage as a seasonal accessory category, Rare Rabbit and Escape Plan said they intend to build a long-term lifestyle vertical focused on homegrown premium travel products.
The announcement also comes as The House of Rare continues to expand its lifestyle and cultural initiatives. In 2025, the company launched RareFore, a platform focused on celebrating Indian culture, creativity, music, food and storytelling across the country.
