Protean eGov Technologies Ltd, an IT-enabled solutions company, is pursuing a three-pillar strategy focused on scaling Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), building AI-driven enterprise digital ecosystems and taking its capabilities to international markets.
The company plans to strengthen its existing digital platforms while developing new foundational digital rails across financial services, insurance, agriculture, healthcare, education and commerce.
Three pillars drive future strategy
It also aims to shift towards higher-margin, value-added services by combining its capabilities in identity, verification, consent, signing and registries.
Under its Enterprise Digital Ecosystems strategy, Protean plans to build an AI-driven intelligence layer over its digital infrastructure and move from point products to bundled, outcome-led solutions.
Entering select markets
The company also plans a focused, partnership-led and capital-light international expansion, working with multilateral institutions and sovereign counterparts in select markets.
Across these initiatives, Protean intends to maintain financial discipline and deploy capital towards businesses offering stronger returns.
Management comment
“For three decades, Protean has been the quiet custodian of India’s digital trust. Our ambition now is to carry that role forward as the nation’s trust architect — from building rails to building the intelligence layer above them, from products to solutions, and from India to the world,” said Protean eGov Technologies, Managing Director & CEO, Ajay Rajan in a letter to shareholders.
Revenue reaches record ₹998 crore
Protean reported its highest-ever consolidated revenue from operations of ₹998 crore in FY26, registering 19% year-on-year growth. The company remained debt-free, with cash reserves exceeding ₹850 crore.
Its Tax Services business grew 17.5% to ₹498 crore, while market share increased by 232 basis points to 59%. The company issued more than 4.7 crore PAN cards during the year.
CRA business expands subscriber base
Revenue from the Central Recordkeeping Agency (CRA) business increased to ₹304 crore, with more than 1.5 crore new subscribers onboarded along with over 3,000 corporates.
Protean said increasing adoption of digital identity, pension inclusion and open digital ecosystems across insurance, education, healthcare and agriculture validates its long-term strategy and provides opportunities for expansion in India and overseas.
