Danfoss India has unveiled its next-generation iC7 Ultra Low Harmonics Drive, targeting energy efficiency, power quality and decarbonisation across India’s rapidly expanding industrial sector.
The technology was premiered at SEMICON India 2026 and the 25th CII Energy Efficiency Summit, as India seeks to strengthen its position as a global hub for high-tech manufacturing.
Drive targets power losses
The iC7 drive incorporates an integrated active front-end rectifier that reduces Total Harmonic Distortion of Current (THDi) to below 3% while operating at a 1.0 power factor.
Danfoss said reducing electrical distortion at source can help industrial facilities minimise energy waste across factory networks and support energy-efficiency and decarbonisation goals.
The technology is aimed particularly at modern manufacturing facilities where power quality is critical for automated and sensitive equipment.
Smaller infrastructure requirements
The iC7 drive can enable industrial facilities to operate with 10% to 25% smaller transformers and backup generators, according to Danfoss.
The reduction in infrastructure sizing can lower material requirements and capital expenditure while also reducing the embodied carbon associated with new industrial projects.
The drive is also designed to protect connected machinery from thermal stress and premature failure, making it relevant to sectors such as semiconductor manufacturing and advanced electronics, where uninterrupted operations and power quality are critical.

Power quality becomes critical
“As modern industrial facilities adopt sophisticated automation, maintaining high power quality has become non-negotiable for operational reliability and business continuity,” Danfoss India Head of Drives Sales, Marketing & Services Mandar Vaijanapurkar said.
He said the iC7 drive is designed to address electrical distortion at its source, helping customers protect sensitive equipment, reduce infrastructure stress and improve network performance.
