Escorts Kubota, the agri-machinery and construction equipment major, has marked three decades of its Farmtrac brand in India with the launch of three new tractor models aimed at growing demand for higher torque, four-wheel drive and multi-utility applications.
The company has introduced the Farmtrac 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’, its first all-black tractor, in the 55 HP category. It is available in both two-wheel drive (2WD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) variants.
Farmtrac expands premium portfolio
The company has also expanded its PROMAXX series under ‘PROMAXX 2.0’ with the 47 HT PROMAXX and 50 PROMAXX, in the 47 HP and 50 HP categories respectively. Both models are offered in 2WD and 4WD variants.
Escorts Kubota operates three tractor brands in India — Kubota, Farmtrac and Powertrac — catering to the premium, entry-premium and value segments respectively. Farmtrac was launched in India in 1995 and currently spans the 26 HP to 60 HP range.
Dark Edition targets larger farms
The Farmtrac 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’ is powered by a four-cylinder, 3,682 cc engine producing maximum torque of 247 Nm. It comes with a 2,500 kg heavy-duty hydraulic lift, LED lighting and a heat shield.
The tractor is targeted at progressive farmers and larger landholdings requiring higher productivity and durability. It can handle implements such as super seeders, laser levellers, reversible mould board ploughs, rotavators and harrows, besides heavy haulage.
PROMAXX gets higher torque
The PROMAXX 2.0 models are powered by Farmtrac’s 3,514 cc HT (High Torque) engine, delivering up to 230 Nm of torque.
Both tractors feature a 12 forward and three reverse gearbox, creeper speed option and a spacious flat platform aimed at improving operator comfort.
Focus on changing customer demand
“The 6055 Classic ‘Dark Edition’ and the PROMAXX 2.0 range are in line with our vision of strengthening the portfolio through focused, application-led products. It is a deliberate step towards our ambition of a stronger market position in India,” Escorts Kubota, Chairman and Managing Director, Nikhil Nanda, said.
“The 41 to 50 HP category continues to dominate the domestic market as the largest segment. However, customer demand within this space is shifting rapidly towards four-wheel drive and higher torque, driven by farmers undertaking more demanding applications,” Escorts Kubota, Deputy Managing Director, Akira Kato, said.
“The 47 HT PROMAXX and the 50 PROMAXX represent a natural progression for a series that has already established a strong market presence, and the ‘Dark Edition’ extends that same choice of drive and styling into the premium 55 HP category,” he said.
