GMR Aero Technic (GAT), an aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service provider in India, and StandardAero, a global independent aerospace engine aftermarket and MRO provider, have signed an agreement to explore the establishment of GMR Aero Technic as an authorised service centre for on-wing engine support in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.
The proposed partnership combines StandardAero’s expertise in engine aftermarket services with GMR Aero Technic’s expanding MRO capabilities and strategic location in India.
Expanding engine support capabilities
The proposed service centre is expected to provide specialised aircraft engine maintenance and support services to airlines and aircraft operators across the APAC region.
The initiative is aimed at bringing engine support closer to operators’ operating bases, helping reduce aircraft downtime and improve fleet availability and operational efficiency.
For airlines operating across the APAC region, access to specialised on-wing engine support closer to their networks can help accelerate maintenance response and minimise the time aircraft remain out of service.
Broad range of MRO services
The proposed scope of the service centre will cover a range of engine maintenance and support activities.
These include engine and module replacement, borescope inspections, fan blade and fuel nozzle replacements, gearbox changes, engine preservation and storage, and Quick Engine Change (QEC) build-up.
The planned capabilities will also include Electronic Control Unit (ECU) software upgrades, engine logistics support and engine change services.
India as an APAC support hub
The agreement adds to GMR Aero Technic’s efforts to build its capabilities in the aircraft MRO segment and leverage India’s position as a growing aviation market.
The collaboration with StandardAero is expected to provide operators with access to specialised engine support from India while combining local MRO infrastructure with global engine aftermarket expertise.
The proposed service centre would strengthen the availability of on-wing engine support in the region, with a focus on faster response times and improved fleet availability.
The agreement marks a step towards establishing GMR Aero Technic as an authorised StandardAero service centre for on-wing engine support in APAC.
