Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd (KOEL) and Germany-based DEUTZ have entered into a strategic cooperation to expand the global reach of KOEL’s compact engine solutions into markets across Europe and North America.
The partnership will complement international drive portfolios in the under-2-litre power segment and target growing demand for compact and reliable power solutions.
Partnership expands global market reach
KOEL is a manufacturer of internal combustion engines for the off-highway sector, while DEUTZ is a global engine manufacturer and drive system specialist headquartered in Cologne, Germany.
The two companies have a long-standing history of industrial collaboration in engines and drive solutions. The latest agreement is aimed at expanding their cooperation across compact drive applications globally.

R550 platform targets lower power segment
The new drive platform will be offered in naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions of KOEL’s R550 platform.
The water-cooled three-cylinder engine series features electronic direct injection and a high-pressure common-rail system. It covers a power range of 18 kW to 41.2 kW.
Engines designed for multiple applications
The compact engine platform is designed for applications across construction, material handling and industrial equipment.
Efficient combustion, compact dimensions and flexible integration are intended to enable manufacturers to integrate the engines into a range of machine concepts.
Platform meets global emission norms
The engine platform meets emissions requirements under EU Stage V as well as EPA and CARB Tier 4 standards.
The cooperation is also expected to strengthen the companies’ ability to address demand for smaller engines as equipment manufacturers seek compact power solutions with lower emissions.
Strengthening portfolio
