Adani Ports Expands Kaleris Tie-up Across 15 Container Terminals

CW Bureau ·

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ), India’s largest integrated transport operator, has expanded its strategic partnership with Kaleris to deploy advanced digital and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven solutions across its ports and logistics network.

The initiative forms part of APSEZ’s broader 2030 strategy, which includes investments of $850 million towards decarbonisation, technology upgrades and building cargo handling capacity of one billion tonnes annually.

Technology deployment

Under the multi-year agreement, Kaleris will deploy its terminal operating system along with AI-enabled container handling and optimisation solutions across 15 APSEZ container terminals spread across nine domestic and international ports.

The expansion follows the successful completion of Phase I deployments across six ports.

Unified digital platform

APSEZ will now scale planning, optimisation, automation and operational capabilities across its maritime and logistics network to create a unified digital platform.

The company said the integrated digital backbone will improve efficiency, operational consistency and end-to-end visibility across its port operations.

Productivity gains

The deployment of Kaleris’ Advanced Optimisation platform is expected to improve Rubber Tyred Gantry crane productivity by up to 20% and terminal truck productivity by up to 14%.

The company said the initiative supports its objective of building a technology-led integrated transport platform capable of supporting long-term growth.

Management comment

“AI-enabled automation will define the next frontier of competitiveness in ports and logistics. While APSEZ has already deployed an end-to-end digital platform from shore to door, the Kaleris integration will enhance productivity, improve turnaround time and consistently deliver a superior customer experience,” said APSEZ Chief Executive Officer Ashwani Gupta.

“APSEZ is demonstrating the real impact of an AI-enabled port network at scale. Expanding to all 15 terminals reflects the results already achieved and the trust behind this partnership,” said Kaleris President and Chief Executive Officer Kirk Knauff.
