Air India Makes Flying More Fun For Kids With Launch Of Cloud Chasers

CW Bureau ·

Air India has launched Cloud Chasers, a new child-focused travel programme aimed at enhancing the flying experience for families as the airline looks to strengthen customer engagement amid rising family travel demand.

The initiative brings together Air India’s child-centric products and services under a single platform while introducing a playful new avatar of the iconic Maharaja to engage young travellers across multiple touchpoints.

The launch comes at a time when family travel is witnessing strong momentum, with the segment growing by 13 per cent between 2024 and 2025, according to the airline.

Focus on young flyers
Cloud Chasers has been designed to create a more immersive and enjoyable travel experience for children while making journeys smoother for parents.

As part of the programme, children aged between 3 and 9 years travelling on long-haul and ultra-long-haul flights exceeding eight hours will receive specially curated onboard activity kits featuring puzzles, games, drawing sections and interactive discovery prompts.

Air India has also redesigned its First Flight Certificates for children, offering personalised keepsakes signed by the captain and cabin crew to commemorate a child’s first flying experience.

The airline’s reimagined Maharaja character will appear across these experiences as a young and adventurous travel companion aimed at building stronger emotional engagement with children.

Expanding inflight entertainment
Air India has significantly expanded its child-focused entertainment offerings through the Vista inflight entertainment platform and Vista Stream services.

The airline said the ‘Kids Zone’ now offers more than 130 hours of content, while Vista Stream provides an additional 35 hours of child-friendly programming accessible on personal electronic devices.

The content portfolio includes collaborations with global entertainment brands such as Moonbug Entertainment and Red Bull TV, alongside educational audio storytelling partnerships with Vobble aimed at reducing screen time for children.

Interactive gaming features including UNO, Angry Birds, Chess and Ludo Race have also been integrated into the entertainment ecosystem.

Enhancing family travel experience
Air India said the programme goes beyond entertainment and includes operational support for families travelling with children.

The airline will provide priority boarding across airports, while priority check-in assistance will be offered wherever operationally feasible. Infant meals and bassinet seats will also be available on select domestic and international routes.

Air India, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Rajesh Dogra said the programme has been carefully designed to address the needs of young travellers while making journeys more enjoyable for families.

He added that Cloud Chasers represents the first phase of a broader long-term strategy to strengthen Air India’s family travel experience as the airline continues its transformation journey.

The initiative also reflects growing competition among airlines to differentiate through customer experience-led offerings, particularly in premium and family travel segments where personalised services are becoming increasingly important.
