Jana Small Finance Bank Ltd expects profit after tax (PAT) to grow by more than 80% in FY27, supported by normalising credit costs, improving margins and continued growth in its secured lending book.
The bank said it enters FY27 with a strengthened balance sheet and will focus on profitability recovery, retail deposits, technology investments and maintaining high standards of governance and customer service.
Bank takes cautious microfinance approach
Jana SFB maintained a measured approach to microfinance by moderating unsecured exposures, tightening origination standards and strengthening its collections infrastructure.
“We continued to leverage the Central Government Guarantee Programme to further mitigate cyclical risks in the microfinance portfolio. The industry went through a significant correction this year, but Jana came through it with integrity and with a cleaner, more conservative book,” Part-Time Chairperson, Chitra Talwar told shareholders.
Commercial banking emerges as growth engine
The bank’s Commercial Banking business continued to strengthen as a key growth engine during the year.
“We broadened our business banking capabilities and invested in new growth areas that will enable us to build a full-service Commercial Banking franchise and support businesses across every stage of their growth,” she said.
Technology to support customer relationships
Jana is continuing its digital transformation, with technology positioned as an enabler of customer trust rather than a replacement for human interaction.
“Digital capabilities enhance the quality, consistency and speed of service, while our people continue to provide the empathy, advice and relationship management that define the Jana experience,” she said.
Universal bank ambition remains
The bank’s aspiration to become a Universal Bank remains unchanged. Jana said its scale, diversified customer base, governance framework and purpose-driven approach provide a foundation for the next phase of its evolution.
“We will reapply for the Universal Banking Licence at the appropriate time, with patience and discipline. What we are building at Jana is more than a larger bank—it is a stronger institution, defined by resilience, trust and a long-term commitment to creating value,” Talwar said.
Focus on people and leadership
Jana said investing in employee growth and leadership will remain a key priority as the bank builds its next phase of growth.
The bank will also continue strengthening its capabilities and governance standards as it works towards its long-term ambition of becoming a full-service bank.
