Hyundai Wins World Performance Car Award 2026 For Its E-Car IONIQ 6 N

Hyundai Motor Company has secured a major global recognition at the World Car Awards 2026, with the IONIQ 6 N being named the World Performance Car.

The winners of the 22nd edition of the prestigious awards were announced at a live ceremony held during the New York International Auto Show 2026, reaffirming Hyundai’s growing leadership in performance-oriented electric mobility.

Recognition reflects the collective efforts

Hyundai Motor Company  president and CEO  Jose Munoz said the recognition reflects the collective efforts of the company’s global teams.

He noted that the award acknowledges the dedication of thousands of employees involved in designing, engineering, and building the vehicle. He also highlighted that customers value the IONIQ 6 N for its design, advanced technology, and real-world usability, adding that the honour ultimately belongs to both the team and Hyundai’s global customer base.

Redefining performance in the electric era

The IONIQ 6 N stands out for redefining high-performance driving in the electric vehicle segment by combining power with advanced, driver-focused technologies.

The model delivers up to 641 horsepower with its N Grin Boost function and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, placing it among the top-tier electric performance cars globally.

It also introduces immersive driving technologies such as N e-Shift, which replicates the feel of a traditional gearshift, and N Active Sound+, enhancing the sensory driving experience. Complementing its performance credentials is an advanced 84 kWh battery system capable of charging from 10% to 80% in approximately 18 minutes under optimal conditions using a 350 kW charger.

Consistent global recognition

This marks the fifth consecutive year that Hyundai Motor Company has been recognised at the World Car Awards, underscoring its sustained focus on innovation and electrification.

The company’s recent accolades include multiple wins across categories, with models like the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 securing top honours such as World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year. The IONIQ 5 N was also recognised as World Performance Car in 2024, reinforcing Hyundai’s strong presence in the high-performance EV segment.
