LG Electronics India Crosses 1-Mn AC Sales In Q1 2026, To Scale Up Volume

CW Bureau ·

LG Electronics India (LGE India), a leading consumer electronics and appliances company, has sold more than one million air conditioner in the first quarter of 2026, marking its fastest-ever start to a summer season in the country. It is also planning to scale up AC production through its upcoming Sri City plant this year to cater to increasing demand of cooling products in India

The milestone underscores the company’s execution capabilities and supply chain agility, while reinforcing its leadership position in India’s fast-growing and highly competitive air conditioner market.

Early mover advantage drives growth

A key driver behind the strong performance was LGE India’s early launch of its new BEE star-rated compliant AC portfolio ahead of the peak summer season.

This first-mover advantage enabled retail partners and consumers to transition seamlessly to energy-efficient products, at a time when demand for sustainable cooling solutions is gaining momentum.

Strategic importance of India market

LG Electronics India, Managing Director, Hong Ju Jeon, said: “Crossing one million AC sales in a single quarter is not just a commercial milestone, it is a powerful statement of the trust that millions of consumers place in LG every day.”

He added that India remains one of LG’s most strategically important markets globally, reflecting the company’s continued commitment to consumers, partners and sustainable development.

He further noted that the company is investing significantly in innovation, distribution and localisation, while expanding its manufacturing facility at Sri City to strengthen its alignment with the Make in India initiative.

Product innovation and demand outlook

LG Electronics India, Director & Co-Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Sanjay Chitkara, said: “Building on this momentum, we are focused on delivering advanced, energy-efficient cooling solutions tailored for domestic and global consumers.”

He highlighted that the company’s premium AC range, featuring Energy Manager Plus and expanded capacities, caters to diverse consumer needs across segments.

He added that the company expects stronger demand in the second quarter of calendar year 2026, supported in part by GST cuts on air conditioners.

Export footprint expands

In addition to the domestic market, LGE India continues to expand its export footprint, supplying Made-in-India air conditioners to markets such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Southeast Asia.

The strong quarterly performance positions the company to capitalise on rising demand for energy-efficient cooling solutions both in India and overseas markets.
