Adani Power Sees Energy As Base For AI-Led Growth, Says Gautam Adani

CW Bureau ·

Adani Power Ltd believes that the next phase of global growth will be driven by the convergence of digital intelligence and physical infrastructure, with energy emerging as the critical foundation for the AI era, Chairman Gautam Adani said in the latest annual report.

“We understood then that the coming age of AI would demand far more than algorithms. It would require massive data centres, reliable power, strong transmission networks, cooling systems, connectivity, clean energy and industrial-scale resilience,” he said.

Energy seen as backbone of AI economy

In simple terms, the Group recognised early that energy would become the “pre-condition of intelligence” and positioned itself ahead of the emerging global transformation driven by artificial intelligence and infrastructure expansion.

He said the company’s immediate challenge now lies in execution speed and deploying capital efficiently at the scale required by India’s rapidly growing economy.

Transformation model for faster execution

To support its next phase of growth, Adani Power is implementing what is described as a model of “active transformation” across the organisation.

The first element involves a three-layer organisational structure aimed at reducing bureaucracy and flattening hierarchy to improve visibility, speed and decision-making in a fast-evolving technology-driven environment.

Partner and talent focus

According to him, the new structure is intended to ensure decision-making cycles keep pace with a technology-fused global business landscape while enabling faster capital deployment and execution.

The second pillar is a Partner Management Model under which partners are treated as an extension of the company’s own teams to improve scale, execution efficiency and integration of best practices across projects.

Worker dignity and leadership pipeline

The company is also strengthening internal talent development and leadership identification to build what Gautam Adani described as a resilient leadership pipeline aligned with the “Adani DNA”.

The fourth pillar of transformation is the Worker Dignity Model aimed at improving welfare, dignity and engagement of frontline workers involved in project execution.

India entering AI-led growth phase

According to the company, these structural changes are intended to support faster capital deployment and help transition from rapid expansion towards building a long-term institutional legacy.

Gautam Adani said the Group is helping build the “physical and digital nervous system” of an emerging global superpower as India enters a new phase of AI-led growth.

Infrastructure and intelligence to drive India

“Accelerating Infrastructure and Leveraging Intelligence are the twin global engines that must shape India’s strength, secure India’s sovereignty, and accelerate India’s journey to becoming one of the defining powers of this century,” he said.

He added that infrastructure gives a nation “muscle” while intelligence provides “mastery”, with both becoming increasingly inseparable in the evolving global economy.

Focus shifts back to growth

Gautam Adani also said matters relating to the Group’s US legal proceedings are now behind it, enabling the company to focus on the next phase of growth with renewed confidence and belief.

He said the transformative changes being implemented across the organisation would help the Group move from a phase of rapid expansion towards building a legacy of enduring impact.
