Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) has been recognised as the ‘Automobile: Top Exporter’ for FY2025-26 by the Mumbai Port Authority, underscoring the Group’s growing contribution to India’s emergence as a global automotive manufacturing and export hub.

The recognition comes after SAVWIPL exported more than 40,000 vehicles through Mumbai Port during FY2025-26, reflecting the continued momentum of its “Make in India, for India and the World” strategy.

Export milestone strengthens global footprint
The award was presented at the Business Conclave with Partners by Mumbai Port Authority Chairperson M. Angamuthu and Deputy Chairperson Adesh Titarmare.

Representing SAVWIPL, Amit Madan, Vice President – Logistics Region India, received the honour on behalf of the company.

Mumbai Port remains a key gateway for SAVWIPL’s export operations, providing efficient access to international markets and supporting the Group’s broader globalisation strategy.

Reinforcing India’s role in global manufacturing
The latest recognition follows SAVWIPL’s ‘Top Exporter 2023-24’ award from the Mumbai Port Authority, highlighting the company’s consistent performance in overseas markets.

Over the years, the Group has exported more than 725,000 vehicles manufactured in India to markets across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and North America, reinforcing its commitment to the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.

Manufacturing ecosystem drives export growth
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, Managing Director & CEO, Piyush Arora said, “Being recognised once again by the Mumbai Port Authority is a proud moment for all of us at SAVWIPL. This award is a validation of our strong export momentum and our teams’ relentless focus on quality, reliability, and operational excellence across the value chain.”

He added that the company’s manufacturing ecosystem in India has evolved into a significant global export base for the Volkswagen Group, with India playing an increasingly important role in its international production and supply network.

Expanding beyond vehicle exports
In addition to exporting fully built units of Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus as well as Skoda Kushaq and Slavia, SAVWIPL is also expanding its exports of automotive parts and components.

The company said these exports support local vehicle assembly operations in select overseas markets and further strengthen India’s position within the Group’s global industrial footprint.

SAVWIPL also plans to explore new export opportunities aligned with changing customer preferences, regulatory requirements and its long-term regional growth strategy. The company recently expanded its footprint with entry into the Sri Lankan market, adding another destination to its growing export network.
