KTM do Brasil has inaugurated its motorcycle manufacturing plant in Manaus, in Brazil’s Amazonas state, with an installed annual capacity of 20,000 motorcycles.
The facility is already operational and employs 100 people directly and indirectly. The company expects to produce 3,500 units by the end of 2026, with production set to increase further through 2027.
₹37.50 crore investment in facilities
The plant received an investment of R$ 20 million (₹37.50 crore) in facilities and equipment. Dedicated exclusively to KTM and Husqvarna, it will manufacture 10 models across motocross, enduro and adventure segments.
The opening marks a reorganisation of the brands’ operations in Brazil. The plant operates on a completely knocked down (CKD) basis and handles kit preparation, engine assembly, motorcycle assembly, quality control, packing and shipping.
Independent manufacturing operation
KTM began assembling motorcycles in Manaus in 2016 through a partnership with Dafra Motos. The new facility gives the Austrian manufacturer an independent industrial operation dedicated to its two brands.
“Brazil is an important market in the global portfolio of both Bajaj and KTM, and the inauguration of the KTM facility co-located with the Bajaj Auto facility in Manaus is yet another signal of our commitment to Brazil,” Bajaj Auto, Joint Managing Director, Rakesh Sharma, said.
“Every motorcycle built in Manaus carries the KTM promise: performance, innovation, quality and riding pleasure. The same processes, quality standards and technical requirements apply here as in Austria,” KTM AG, Vice-President, Operations, Fabian Steinbacher, said.
Ten models planned for production
The motocross range will include the KTM 250 SX-F and 450 SX-F. Enduro production will cover the KTM 250 EXC-F, 350 EXC-F 6DAYS, 300 EXC and 300 EXC 6DAYS.
Husqvarna models will include the FE 350 and TE 300 PRO. The plant will also manufacture the KTM 390 ADVENTURE R and 390 ADVENTURE X, priced at R$ 37,990 and R$ 33,990, respectively.
Dealer network set to expand
“The successful start of production in Manaus demonstrates what is possible here, and we have ambitious plans for the future,” Bajaj Mobility AG and KTM AG, Chief Financial Officer, Petra Preining, said.
The company aims to strengthen local value creation and production efficiency. Its authorised dealer network currently has 12 locations in Brazil, with plans to expand to 30 outlets by 2027.
