Raymond Ltd board has approved to change its name to Raymond Aerospace, Defence & Engineering Ltd, reflecting the company’s evolving business profile and growing focus on engineering, aerospace and defence following the demerger of its lifestyle and real estate businesses.
The proposed name change is subject to approval by the company’s members through a special resolution, the Registrar of Companies or Central Processing Centre, and the stock exchanges.
Engineering emerges as core business
Established in 1925, the Raymond Group began as a textile manufacturer and subsequently expanded into engineering and real estate.
Following the demerger of its lifestyle and real estate verticals into independent entities, Raymond now focuses on two core engineering businesses: tools and auto components, and aerospace and defence.
The company holds a leadership position in the manufacture of files and hand tools, with a significant presence in domestic and international markets.
Aerospace and defence drive expansion
Raymond’s entry into aerospace and defence gained momentum with the acquisition of Maini Precision Products Ltd (MPPL).
The acquisition expanded its engineering capabilities into high-value manufacturing segments, including aerospace, defence and electric vehicle components, serving both domestic and international customers.
The proposed name change reflects this strategic shift towards advanced engineering and defence manufacturing, aligning the company’s corporate identity with its evolving business portfolio.
Building on manufacturing heritage
Raymond is leveraging its manufacturing expertise, engineering capabilities and established market presence to pursue growth across aerospace, defence, automotive and other engineering segments. The group also retains interests in lifestyle and real estate through its broader corporate structure.
The proposed rebranding marks another step in Raymond’s transformation from a diversified traditional business into a group with a stronger focus on engineering-led industries and emerging manufacturing opportunities.
