L&T Technology Services Ltd (LTTS), an engineering and research and development (R&D) services provider, has secured a five-year contract with Nokia to support engineering and R&D programmes in India.
Under the agreement, LTTS will support Nokia’s global R&D initiatives across product engineering, software development, system integration, embedded systems and product support.
Dedicated centre to support Nokia
LTTS will establish a dedicated Offshore Development Center (ODC) in India to support Nokia’s engineering and R&D activities.
The centre will focus on next-generation telecommunications solutions, bringing together data-centre-grade computing and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure engineering.
The collaboration aligns with LTTS’ Lakshya 31 strategy, particularly its focus on next-generation computing and AI infrastructure.
Focus on AI and 5G technologies
LTTS will create a dedicated engineering team in India to support Nokia’s global Technology Center. The team’s work will span 5G networks, intelligent automation, AI-driven operations and AI infrastructure.
The engagement will follow an integrated operating model, with LTTS working alongside Nokia’s global R&D teams on research, new product development, software and ongoing technical support.
India strengthens innovation role
“As a leader in AI infrastructure, Nokia’s continued investment in R&D is essential to developing the advanced connectivity technologies that will power the AI supercycle. India is an important innovation hub for Nokia, and LTTS is a critical partner that will bring engineering expertise and mechanisms that will help us expand our R&D footprint and accelerate innovation in this strategically important geography,” Nokia, Senior Vice-President of Engineering, Vivek Jaiswal, said.
“This strategic engagement represents a significant milestone for LTTS and our Technology Segment. It reflects the trust that leading technology innovators place in our Engineering Intelligence approach and deep-tech engineering expertise,” L&T Technology Services, Executive Director and President – Strategic Initiatives & Growth Markets, Alind Saxena, said.
He said the collaboration also aligns with LTTS’ Lakshya 31 strategic initiative on next-generation computing and AI infrastructure, which is expected to play an important role in the development of future communication networks and intelligent data centres.
