Italian luxury motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has unveiled the new Monster Dark, an all-black version of its iconic naked motorcycle, aimed at riders seeking a minimalist design combined with sporty performance and everyday usability. The motorcycle will be available at dealerships from November 2026, while its arrival in India is expected in 2027.
Positioned as the most essential interpretation of the Monster, the Dark edition follows the original philosophy of the motorcycle — “Everything you need, nothing more”. It revisits the styling elements that have defined the Monster since its introduction in 1993, while retaining the performance, handling and technology of the latest generation.
The Dark edition features an all-black finish, complemented by black wheels, a single-material seat and exposed components, including the front frame, exhaust end caps and intake snorkel.
111 hp V2 engine delivers strong torque
The new Monster Dark is powered by Ducati’s V2 engine, producing 111 hp at 9,000 rpm and peak torque of 91.1 Nm at 7,250 rpm.
The engine delivers more than 80% of its peak torque across the 4,000-10,000 rpm range, providing strong low- and mid-range performance suited to both urban riding and open roads.
The motorcycle retains the Monster’s distinctive engineering combination of a high-performance V2 engine and a Superbike-derived chassis. Its aluminium monocoque frame is paired with a hybrid technopolymer and trellis rear subframe.
Lightweight construction and rider ergonomics
Weight reduction remains a key feature of the latest Monster platform. Ducati has reduced the motorcycle’s weight by 4 kg compared with the previous generation, bringing its total weight down to 175 kg.
The compact construction is designed to improve manoeuvrability in urban traffic while providing agility and control during spirited riding.
The motorcycle has a seat height of 815 mm, with slim sides intended to make it easier for riders to place their feet on the ground. The handlebar and footpeg positioning is designed to balance comfort during everyday commuting with control during sport riding.
Ducati is also offering an A2 licence-compliant version, widening the Monster’s appeal to newer riders.
Advanced electronics and four riding modes
The Monster Dark comes with an electronic rider assistance package comprising Cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control, Wheelie Control and Engine Brake Control. The intervention levels of these systems can be adjusted to suit riding conditions and preferences.
Riding information is displayed through a 5-inch colour TFT instrument panel, which is compatible with the Ducati Multimedia System and turn-by-turn navigation, available as accessories.
Four riding modes allow riders to adapt the motorcycle’s character to different conditions. Urban mode is designed for city commuting, while Sport mode provides a more performance-oriented response for dynamic riding.
An optional Ducati Power Launch system adds a launch-control function for riders seeking a more aggressive acceleration experience.
Customisation options
Ducati is offering a range of accessories to personalise the Monster Dark, including Ducati Quick Shift, Cruise Control, a flyscreen and a passenger seat cover.
The company is also showcasing technical apparel and sportswear through its online configurator, allowing customers to customise their motorcycles and riding equipment.
Celebrating over three decades of Monster
Alongside the launch, Ducati has introduced the IMLegend campaign, bringing together iconic riders from the brand’s past and present, along with Monster enthusiasts from across the world.
The photographic project celebrates the motorcycle’s evolution since 1993 and the global community of Monsteristi who have helped establish it as one of Ducati’s most recognisable models.
With its lightweight construction, torque-rich V2 engine and minimalist all-black styling, the Monster Dark is positioned as an accessible entry point into Ducati’s naked motorcycle family. Its expected India arrival in 2027 will bring the latest interpretation of the long-running Monster legacy to the domestic premium motorcycle market.
