Adani Skills & Education (ASE), the Adani Group’s capability-building and skilling arm, and Kachchh University have inaugurated a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Green Energy at the university campus in Bhuj, Gujarat.
The facility was inaugurated by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and will train more than 10,000 Kachchh University students every year. It will prepare students for roles across the renewable energy value chain while providing industry-linked training closer to home.
Training to cover emerging technologies
The CoE will offer specialised programmes in Solar PV Technologies, Wind Energy Systems, Hybrid Systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), as well as Digital and Industrial Automation.
It will also support applied research and entrepreneurship in green energy, giving students opportunities to gain practical exposure to technologies used across the renewable energy sector.
Industry-linked learning model
“This global Centre of Excellence will ensure that students are equipped not only for today’s jobs, but also for the emerging new opportunities across India and the world,” Adani Group, Director, Karan Adani, said.
ASE CEO Robin Bhowmik said the renewable energy industry is expanding rapidly, but the specialised workforce required to support the sector is not keeping pace.
Focus on practical experience
“By working with Kachchh University, we can bring industry requirements into the classroom, give students practical exposure to the technologies they will work with and help them move from education to employment,” Bhowmik said.
The CoE will follow a structured Learn, Practise, Experience, Certify and Career pathway, combining classroom instruction with simulation-based and practical learning.
Curriculum spans green energy systems
The curriculum will cover solar PV, wind energy, renewable energy integration, BESS and microgrids. It will also include digital systems such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Internet of Things-based energy data and smart-grid technologies.
The initiative is designed to help students develop skills relevant to the changing requirements of the renewable energy industry while creating opportunities for research and entrepreneurship.
Khavda project drives skill demand
At Khavda, the Adani Group is developing a 30 GW renewable energy park spread across 538 sq km. The project is expected to create demand for skilled manpower across solar, wind, energy storage and digital technologies.
The CoE is part of ASE’s broader effort to build a scalable talent ecosystem for sectors critical to India’s growth and provide students with industry-led, real-world experience.
The initiative is also expected to help young people pursue renewable energy careers closer to home while strengthening the availability of skilled talent for the sector.
