Indian cricketer M.S. Dhoni backed drone startup Garuda Aerospace has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Micron Instruments Pvt. Ltd. to jointly develop next-generation defence drones and unmanned systems.
Micron Instruments is an Indian manufacturer of precision fuzes, defence ammunition systems and critical military components.
Focus on indigenous systems
Under the agreement, the two companies will accelerate the development of indigenous defence solutions, including loitering munitions, payload-enabled unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and advanced unmanned systems.
The collaboration aims to combine Garuda Aerospace’s expertise in drone technology with Micron’s capabilities in defence manufacturing to strengthen India’s indigenous defence ecosystem.

Growth opportunity
India’s drone market is projected to exceed ₹20,000 crore, offering significant opportunities for indigenous manufacturers.
Garuda Aerospace said the partnership reflects the companies’ commitment to developing homegrown technologies and strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence and aerospace.
The company has also entered into strategic collaborations with organisations including Thales and Tata Elxsi to expand its presence in the sector.
