Ducati has launched the fifth-generation Monster in India, bringing a completely revamped version of its iconic naked sports motorcycle to the market with prices starting at ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Monster arrives in India after winning the Red Dot Design Award – Product Design 2026, one of the world’s prominent design accolades. The award recognises the motorcycle’s contemporary interpretation of the Monster’s distinctive design while retaining its original identity.
The new-generation Monster is powered by Ducati’s latest V2 twin-cylinder engine and is claimed to be lighter, more accessible and more practical for everyday riding.
An icon gets a new chapter
The Monster made its debut at the Cologne Motor Show in 1992 and helped create the modern naked sports bike segment.
The original Monster followed a simple philosophy, “everything you need, nothing more”, combining a Superbike-derived chassis with a road-focused engine.
Over more than three decades, the motorcycle has evolved through multiple engine generations and technical updates while retaining its distinctive character. Ducati has also built a global community of Monster enthusiasts known as the Monsteristi.

New V2 engine delivers 111 hp
The fifth-generation Monster is powered by Ducati’s new V2 twin-cylinder engine, which is 5.9 kg lighter than the previous Testastretta Evoluzione engine.
The engine uses Intake Variable Timing (IVT) technology and produces 111 hp at 9,000 rpm. More than 80% of its maximum torque is available between 4,000 rpm and 10,000 rpm.
The engine’s valve clearance inspection interval stands at 45,000 km, which Ducati describes as a benchmark for the category.
The IVT system is designed to deliver smoothness at low revs, stronger response through the mid-range and power at higher engine speeds.
Lighter chassis and sporty dynamics
The new Monster uses the V2 engine as a stressed member of the chassis and features a monocoque frame, a double-sided swingarm inspired by the Panigale V4 and a rear subframe combining a technopolymer element with a trellis structure.
The new technical layout reduces the motorcycle’s weight by 4 kg, bringing its total weight to 175 kg with an empty tank.
Suspension duties are handled by a 43 mm upside-down Showa fork and Showa monoshock, calibrated to balance everyday comfort with sporty riding.
Braking is handled by dual 320 mm front discs with Brembo M4.32 radial calipers. The motorcycle rides on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres in 120/70 front and 180/55 rear sizes.
The seat height has been reduced to 815 mm, with a narrower seat designed to make it easier for riders to place their feet on the ground.
Four riding modes and advanced electronics
The new Monster gets four Riding Modes aimed at different riding conditions.
Sport mode is designed for more spirited riding, while Road and Urban modes are intended to make the motorcycle more accessible in everyday conditions.
The electronic package includes Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control and cornering ABS.
Riders can manage the motorcycle’s functions through new petal-shaped joystick controls and a 5-inch TFT display. The instrument cluster is compatible with Ducati Multimedia System and turn-by-turn navigation.
Ducati Protect service packages
Ducati has also introduced Ducati Protect for the 2026 Monster in India.
The Ducati Protect (+) package is priced at ₹30,999 and provides coverage for two years or 15,000 km, while Ducati Protect (Pro), priced at ₹54,999, extends coverage to four years or 30,000 km.
Both packages cover genuine Ducati parts and labour performed by Ducati-certified technicians at authorised dealerships across India. The packages can also be transferred if the motorcycle is sold to another owner.
Consumables including brake pads, clutch plates and tyres are not covered.
Ducati’s Indian dealership network currently covers New Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Goa.
