Air India has unveiled the latest chapter of its brand platform, ‘There is an Air About India’, featuring young cricket talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in a digital film ahead of the Asian Games.
First launched in 2025, the campaign initially focused on India’s confidence, ambition and momentum. The latest edition shifts the focus to the collective support behind individual achievement, highlighting the role played by families, coaches, teammates, mentors, fans and communities.
‘Together We Fly’
The campaign’s central message is captured in its soundtrack refrain, ‘Together We Fly’, which highlights the role of collective encouragement in helping individuals realise their potential.
The digital film traces Sooryavanshi’s journey from a young boy with a dream to a rising cricket star. It also brings in stories and imagery from Indian sport, highlighting the contribution of families, coaches, support staff and supporters behind sporting achievements.
Air India is among the early major Indian brands to partner with Sooryavanshi, positioning the young cricketer as a representative of a new generation of Indian sporting talent.
The campaign has been conceptualised and produced by Air India in partnership with creative agency McCann. Its soundtrack uses an Indian fusion rap format, combining contemporary rhythms with Indian musical influences.
Air India’s transformation
The campaign also connects with Air India’s own transformation following its return to the Tata Group in 2022.
The airline is investing in new aircraft, customer experience, operational capabilities and aviation infrastructure. Air India has placed an order for 600 new aircraft, while its $400 million programme to retrofit its legacy fleet is underway.
The airline said the retrofit of its narrowbody aircraft has been completed, while five refurbished aircraft have returned to service. It has also inducted four new Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
Air India is also expanding its aviation training and maintenance capabilities. It has established an aviation training academy with 21 full-flight simulators for Airbus and Boeing aircraft. A new flying school in Amravati, Maharashtra, and an MRO facility and aircraft maintenance engineering training school in Bengaluru are also being operationalised.
The latest ‘There is an Air About India’ campaign links these developments with the broader theme of collective effort, using sporting achievement to highlight the role of people and communities in supporting India’s aspirations.
