Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL), operated by the Adani Group, has assured airlines that historical slot allocations will be respected and no slots will be disturbed during the winter schedule.
The assurance followed a meeting between Jeet Adani, Arun Bansal and the Airport Operators Committee (AOC) of Mumbai Airport.
The discussions focused on minimising operational disruption while planning the redevelopment of ageing Terminal 1 infrastructure.
Joint working group to plan redevelopment
A joint working group will prepare an implementation plan for redeveloping the ageing Terminal 1 infrastructure over the next two weeks.
Airlines have committed to supporting the redevelopment and beginning traffic balancing from the summer schedule, according to a statement issued by MIAL.
Airlines offered support for NMIA shift
MIAL has also assured full support to airlines seeking to shift operations to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).
Both sides agreed to hold a follow-up meeting on October 28. Until then, the airport and airline teams will engage with individual airlines’ network and slot management teams.
Focus on coordinated airport development
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing a renewed commitment to Mumbai Airport’s development. MIAL said the discussions focused on minimising disruption and improving infrastructure to meet the expectations of Mumbai’s residents.
The proposed redevelopment and traffic-balancing measures are intended to support infrastructure upgrades while maintaining coordination with airlines.
