CW Bureau ·

VBL Industries (Kenya) Ltd has expanded its presence in the Kenyan beverage market with the launch of BOLT UP and XTREME FIZZ.

The new brands are aimed at tapping growth opportunities in the country’s fast-growing drinks sector.

New brands target young consumers

The brands were unveiled at a partner event in Nairobi themed “The Next Wave”.

The launch is part of VBL Kenya’s long-term strategy to expand its distribution, retail presence and locally relevant beverage portfolio.

BOLT UP is being positioned for young and active consumers.

XTREME FIZZ will compete in the carbonated soft drinks segment with a youthful brand proposition.

Focus on distribution and retail

VBL Kenya plans to support the brands with expanded distribution and marketing activity across the country.

The company will target traditional retail outlets as well as supermarkets.

In traditional retail, the focus will be on wholesalers, neighbourhood shops, dukas and other outlets.

In modern trade, the company plans to build shelf and chiller visibility through displays, sampling and shopper activations.

Digital campaigns to drive awareness

Consumer sampling and youth-focused activations will form part of the launch strategy.

The company will also use digital campaigns to build awareness and encourage product trials.

“Kenya is an important part of our growth ambition in Africa. With the strength of our organisation and the support of our partners, we believe BOLT UP and XTREME FIZZ can create exciting new opportunities in the Kenyan beverage market,” said VBL Kenya, CEO, Ramen Paul.

VBL expands African footprint

VBL Kenya is a subsidiary of Varun Beverages, which has manufacturing and distribution operations across several markets, including India and Africa.

The company’s Kenyan strategy extends beyond individual product launches to building distribution capabilities and partnerships for the long-term expansion of its beverage portfolio.

The launch of BOLT UP gives VBL Kenya an entry into Kenya’s energy drinks segment.

XTREME FIZZ, meanwhile, strengthens its presence in the carbonated soft drinks category.
